IMPORTANT UPCOMING EVENTS
The Penguin Team took a field trip to the Spurlock Museum on campus at the University of Illinois on this week. It was a great learning experience with hands-on activities, some story-telling, and a rousing game of Jeopardy. Everyone had a wonderful time and we thank the parents who came and assisted with the trip.

Course 1 Math
Basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) are reviewed and expanded. Decimals, fractions, numeration, and number theory are focused upon for mastery learning. Measurement, geometry, statistics, percentage, integers, algebra, and probability are introduced. Math connections, math communications, critical thinking, math reasoning, and problem solving are stressed in each area of study. Technology, including calculators and computers, is used as appropriate. Numerous real-world applications utilizing math concepts are incorporated throughout the curriculum.
Course 2 Math
The use of integers, decimals, and fractions are applied to problem-solving situations. Measurement and calculation of area, volume, and surface area are explored. Functions are introduced as they relate to graphs, numeric tables, and equation. The use of the concepts of congruence, similarity, and symmetry are applied to geometric figures. 3-dimensional shapes are explored through volume and surface area. The concepts of data analysis and probability are expanded. Technology, including calculators and computers, is used as appropriate. Numerous real-world applications utilizing math concepts are incorporated throughout the curriculum.
